Lenape Regional High School District Adopts 2016-2017 Budget

On Wednesday, April 27, 2016, the Lenape Regional High School District (LRHSD) Board of Education adopted a $156.6 million budget for the 2016/2017 school year, an increase of $2,578,152 (1.67 percent) more than the current school year.

The proposed total regional school tax levy for 2016/2017 is $116,114,939, an increase of 1.53 percent. Over the last nine years, tax levy increases averaged 1.92%, well under the 2% tax levy cap. Regional school taxes will increase in six of the eight sending communities including Evesham, Medford, Shamong, Southampton, Tabernacle and Woodland; regional school taxes will decrease in Medford Lakes and Tabernacle:
  • Evesham Township – Tax levy increase of 1.50 cents, resulting in an increase in regional school taxes of $36.73 on a home assessed at the township average of $269,900.

  • Medford Lakes Borough – Tax levy decrease of .37 cents, resulting in a decrease in regional school taxes of $12.60 on a home assessed at the borough average of $285,600.

  • Medford Township – Tax levy increase of 1.89 cents, resulting in an increase in regional school taxes of $59.67 on a home assessed at the township average of $327,600.

  • Mt. Laurel Township – Tax levy increase of .15 cents, resulting in an increase in regional school taxes of $4.03 on a home assessed at the township average of $237,600.

  • Shamong Township – Tax levy increase of 2.07 cents, resulting in an increase in regional school taxes of $62.94 on a home assessed at the township average of $307,988.

  • Southampton Township – Tax levy increase of 3.59 cents, resulting in an increase in regional school taxes of $68.94 on a home assessed at the township average of $192,034.

  • Tabernacle Township – Tax levy decrease of 2.49 cents, resulting in a decrease in regional school taxes of $68.00 on a home assessed at the township average of $263,745.

  • Woodland Township – Tax levy increase of 4.70 cents, resulting in an increase in regional school taxes of $97.52 on a home assessed at the township average of $261,400.

Lenape Girls Basketball Head Coach Rob Hummel and his team were recognized by the Board of Education for winning the NJSIAA Group 4 Championship.  The team defeated Paterson Kennedy by a score of 50-35 to win the championship for the first time in school and district history.

The next Board of Education meeting is Wednesday, May 11th at 7:30 p.m. at the Lenape District Administration Building in Shamong.
